A Word From Our Printers

We all have a favourite T Shirt but what creates that image onto it. Screen printing on t-shirts first became popular in the 1950’s and has developed into the best method to decorate garments and other items of clothing.

It requires a silk screen for each colour and once the initial preparation work has been processed it’s a fast, cost effective way of reproducing stunning images onto medium to large volume print runs with accurate, vibrant, simple line artwork all the way through to complex photographic images.

We employ both manual carousels for sampling/small run jobs and automatic printing presses for those medium to hi-volume orders.

For images containing gradients or photographs we employ the 4 colour process CMYK technique to re-create your design onto white or very light colour fabrics

In addition to the the industry standard of ‘plastisol’ inks our printers are also experienced with printing discharge inks, a water based solution that gives a ‘soft hand’ on suitable garments. we are also fully compliant with all specialised inks including fluorescent, reflective, puff, phosphorescent (glow in the dark) and metallic to name but a few.

We do our upmost to ensure the smallest of environmental impact by ensuring all our inks are phthlate free and that we comply with the highest governmental standards for the cleaning of our silk screens and reducing waste wherever possible.

For single or very low run orders we use state of the art, direct to garment printers.

What Our Suppliers Are Saying

In terms of materials, we mainly use natural fibres. We favour organic fabrics that care for your skin and for the environment. And since the planet is no laughing matter, we have obtained the strictest environmental certifications and labels on the market for our entire production chain.

Are we talking about ethics and sustainable development? Yes, a bit! First, because we love to talk and secondly because it’s an inexhaustible subject. Unlike the resources of our planet or human beings. And that is why we work exclusively with exemplary factories that protect rights of the men and women they employ and do their utmost to minimize their environmental footprint. Respect!                                                              - Stanley Stella

We all have a right to a safe and healthy work environment, a living wage, a legally binding contract. We all have a right to be free from discrimination and harassment, to join - or not to join - a labour union, to choose our work freely. We all have a right to fair and reasonable working hours. And our children have a right to go to school.

Continental Clothing Co. has been running a pro-active social responsibility programme as a member of Fair Wear Foundation since early 2006. All the Company’s manufacturing facilities are regularly audited for social compliance and are running active monitoring programmes in accordance with standards advocated by the International Labour Organisation, the Ethical Trading Initiative and other international bodies. The Company publishes an annual Social Report.                                              - Continental Clothing

Ethical Threads are committed to ensuring that products are sourced from manufacturers who comply with the core International Labour Organization conventions

Ethical is a very broad term and initially our main concern was the fair treatment of workers all the way through the supply chain, using International labour standards as our guide. Though this is very much still the case, we have broadened our policy to include environmental & health concerns and now intend to phase in entirely organic cotton stock. We are determined to use Fair Trade certified cotton, where possible, so that the farmers who toil in the fields receive a fair price for their part.                            - Ethical Threads
